I was asked to write some stories for toddlers, stories which dealt
with experiences encountered by tiny tots. I wrote the first four
about a cuddly baby elephant toy called Elephant Small, and the
second four about a mischievous piglet called Piglittle. All of
them are amusingly illustrated by Andy Ellis.

SMALL AND THE SPLASHY BATH
This is my own favourite. Elephant Small doesnt want a bath,
but he has to have one. When Elephant Mum pours bubbles into
the water and Elephant Small begins to splash, he discovers
that bath-time can be fun after all...

Elephant Mum can't find Elephant Small anywhere. Jolly Dog
joins in the search but there's no sign of him. Then a little

and has great fun wrapping his present. But when it is time
for Elephant Mum to leave him at the party, Elephant Small

When it's time for bed, Elephant Small wants to play. He chases
Clockwork Mouse, splashes Scaredy Cat and jumps up and down
on his bed. Will he ever go to sleep..? |

Piglittle would much rather run round the farmyard than eat
his sprouts and potatoes. But will he eat what he is given
when he is really hungry..? |

CAN WE PLAY
TOO, PIGLITTLE?
When Piglittle finds a ball near the pigsty, he won't let
anyone else play with it. Then he discovers that it is no
fun playing on his own... |

CAN'T YOU
SLEEP, PIGLITTLE?
He's too cold, then he's too hot, then Primrose Pig begins
to snore. Piglittle can't sleep, so he creeps out of the pen
to see if anyone else is awake. He is shockd to find that
the moon has fallen into the duck pond... |

PIGLITTLE
Piglittle enjoys running round the farmyard and scaring the
other animals. But he has a shock in store when he runs past
Baggy Bull's field... |
